We were looking to see of the humane society pup we adopted was truly a chiweenie and she is. Her name is Bella Luce, “Beautiful Light” in Italian, and looks like the second picture posted on your webside.
We love our chiweenie.

We’re getting ready to have some chiweenie puppies pretty soon.
We have a one year old Dachshund
named Annabelle, and a 4 year old Chihuahua named Chopper, who have mated. I was just wondering what to expect in the pregnancy. My father seems to be a bit worried. He keeps thinking that Annabelle will have complications. So, please email me some info. if you have any.

I bought a “tiny Chi” & ended up with this new “designer dog” first time I ever heard of this term..CHIWEENIE…hmmm…
I figured I just had a very looooooong Chihuhua with a clutsy posture problem! My other pup from another breeder IS a Tiny Chihuhua & every time she would sit up to beg..my poor little boy just toppled over..NOW I know why! LOL!
He is a joy & the Tiny Chi just tilts her head from side to side as her playmate grows longer & she grows fatter..
Now that I know WHAT he is ..I can trigger his training according to his unique structure..Both are fixed .
You’re gonna love the names “Itsy (the girl) & Bitsy ( the boy), or as my vet calls them ; David & Goliath.
Don’t you just LOVE the breed name ..CHIWEENIE!!
Though I’m not a breeder or vet..replying to Angela’s post. I would think if it were the other way around the Chihuahua were having the Dachshund babies I’d consider a close watch & possibly up to a C section intervention by a vet..but “space wise” the babies would seem to “fit in Annabelle..Either way..be safe ASK your vet.
Happy Valentine’s Day to all you Chiweenie lovers!

OMG! I totally love the breed name too, lol; still can’t over over it, makes me laugh every time! CHIWEENIE!!!
I’m a totally crazy animal lover and have wanted a puppy F-O-R-E-V-E-R…my “dream dog” as a little girl was a hotdog…as I got older I started loving Chihuahuas…finally got married 4 months ago and my husband grew up with many dogs all his life (among others,2 Chihuahua mixed breeds)- so I got my wish! We got a gorgeous brindle Boxer pup first, Dyna (6 mths now) then about a month ago we found lil’ Miss Taffy, a Chiweenie! We had planned to get a pure daschund, but when I saw Taffy I totally melted…my 2 fave dogs mixed into 1! Awesome personality to boot; so loving! She is now just over 3 months, and our 2 lil’ ladies love each other SO much & play so well together! See their pic I posted here!

Hi Bertha - I think you’re going to love having a Chiweenie. They’re very sweet little dogs. Buddy seems to have the best of both breeds with absolutely none of the annoying traits (like too much barking). They do get cold easily so we make sure Buddy has a coat on when it’s cold outside. Also, they’re pretty active, so be sure to walk your new pup often. Good luck!

I have a 10 month old chiweenie and we love her to death. She is very sweet, barks at strangers passing. We have no children here and so she is not socialized that way. My fear is when I get company she seems to be afraid of a 4 year old. I watch her and I’m afraid of her biting . Can someone help. Thanks

we have just had a litter with both parents being chiweenies, they are beautiful little pups. a question i have she had 7 pups in her first litter ,has anyone else bred two chiweenies, and if so is that a large litter or average?

Hi Barbara. We also have a 10 month old chiweenie and have no children. What we have done (this workd for other dogs not just kids) is take her to the park and let kids interact with her. When we weren’t sure how she would react we would not let the kids touch her. When she got used to having kids near her (I think chiweenies may fear how quick and darting kids can be) we slowly started to let them touch her: give the kids a piece of cheese to feed to your dog (this was our vet’s idea). Now she is fine with kids and we have no problem. If she is so young, she can still learn to be less distrustful.

I am a first time viewer of this site and really like it because it deals with CHiweenies, yea! You have a man whose little girl had puppies and I would like to know how to get in touch with him because I have a little boy chiweenie and we would like to find us a little girl and want to know if he would be interested in maybe letting me have one of his. Thank you and thanks for this cool site.

Hi! I have chiweenie (Foxie) and she is 2 years old I think she is a minature of both breeds though because she is only 4.5 pounds. I got her about 6 months ago and she is absolutly adorable. She is extremly good with children. My 2 year old nephew and 6 year old neices care her around like a rag doll. She rides in stollers, sleeps in baby beds, etc. When Foxie sees my nephew she gets so excited and licks and licks him. She has a great personality!

hello all! i have a 3 month old chiweenie (or as i call her a chiweena) named abby. she is sooo great, very entertaining, and very lovable! she is the first dog i have ever owned and i am so glad we decided on this breed. abby is great with kids and other dogs. we had no problem potty training her. but she will not walk on a leash if her life depended on it. any ideas?
April 30th, 2007 at 9:31 pm
Hi Jennell - Have you tried walking your little girl with a harness rather than a collar? I just got a new puppy (Chihuahua/Min Pin mix), and she’ll only walk with a harness. Easier on the neck too.

I have a 10 month old dapple chiweenie (Guapo). He’s a great dog. Hard to potty train. He’s still only about 85% potty trained. He barks alot, but only when he thinks someone is outside. He’s plays really hard for hours and then hits a coma for the rest of the day. He’s very energetic but isn’t quite as coordinated and athletic as my sisters chihuahua/fox terrier mix. He does get cold easy so my wife dresses him up like an idiot. I think he favors the datchsund traits more than the Chihuahua. He had datchsund-sized ears that stand straight up like a chihuahua so he’s pretty funny looking. He’s pretty much grown and tipping the scales at 7lbs. Hope some of this info helped.

I have a 2 year old female chiweenie. Her name is Marley and she is adorable! She weighs alittle over 5lbs. She is solid black with the smallest petite features. Marley’s head and face looks like a miniature version of a mini dauschund and she definately has the chihuahua tail! Great personality too!

Chi-weenies are the absolute best dogs available. I have never seen a more loving and eager to please breed of dog. My chi-weenies (Pedro and Story) have just recently mated and we hope to have a house-full of little chi-weenie babies by the end of August! WOOHOO!

I have a 4 month chiweenie - black head, white body with black spots. Loveable but I am having a hard time house breaking her. I have a doggie door which she easily goes in and out dozens times a day but will not go out when she needs to potty. When I take her outside to potty she does just fine. Any suggestions.

I just adopted a chiweenie. Her name is Kaiya (as in the movie “Willow”) and she resembles Bella up above. This has got to be the most good natured pup I’ve ever owned…affectionate and playful. I just adore her.

Gee. I would really love a chiweenie. Especially the black one who takes many more hints of dauschund. They’re too cute. Their adorable genuine puppy eyes make me happy.

I recently got a chiweenie. She is the most loveable pet I have ever owned. Other than potty training, she is perfect in every way. However, I am confused!! One day her ears will stick up like a chihuahua and the next they will flop over. Will they eventually stay standing up or will it vary from day to day???

I have a 1 year old female named Sprinkles. She is a handful but very loving. My husband calls her a spicy hotdog! Potty training and not jumping up on people has been hard. Any advise would be welcomed. I also have a 10yr. old Shepard mix who was so easy to train.

I have a Chiweenie named Honey who will be 2 years old in October. She brightens my day each time that I see her because she gets so excited that she jumps up and down and tries to lick my face for 4-5 minutes *laughs*. I never knew this breed existed before I got her from a rescue shelter…but I cannot imagine any other dog being as smart, fun, sweet and as good of a friend as Honey is!

I have a 4 month old chiweenie named Ollie! she is the greatest thing in my whole world. she has a doxie head and ears, long body, but chihuahua legs! she had a very terrible beginning. i adopted her from a pet rescue. to answer the price question, she was 250 from the rescue i got her from. she was only 7 weeks old, and they gave her to me SPAYED! how terrible, right? her poor stitches were infected and the second day i had her home, one of them broke. it was so sad. i had to take her to the vet, where they discovered she had ringworm on her ear, worms in her belly, fleas on her body, and an infected incision on her belly! it was so sad. but little ollie prevailed! and she is a happy, healthy puppy now! her hair is even growning back on her ear.. now if only i could get her potty trained…

My husband brought me the cutest little Chiweenie puppy a couple of months ago and we just adore him! He’s now 4 months old and his personality is perfect for my household, which contains two children. However, we, too, are having a difficult time with potty training him. We take him outside, which he loves, but tends to want to wait until he gets back inside to do his business. Hopefully it won’t be too much longer before he gets his ins and outs taken care of. Other than that, he’s a wonderful addition to my family and I’m glad we found him.

My husband bought me a Chiweenie (Jack)for my birthday. Jack is now 5 months and weighs 5 pounds. He is black and silver dapple with brown markings on his face like a daschund. He is loving and mischievious. Like most other chiweenies on this site, he has been hard to potty train. He is fine one day and the next day he forgets everything!

I have a chiweenie named Sputnik. He never barks. He is probably the best dog ever. He chews things when left alone, but it isn’t a big deal. I love him more than anything.

My family recued Rascal, an all black chiweenie, when he was about7 Months old.
What a delight he is. The people we got him from kept him chained up in their back yard because he jumped on their kids. So the poor baby just cried and barked all the time. Duh. He just wanted attention. Well, now he has all he needs.

I have a male Chiweenie named Dewey. Dewey is full grown and weighs 10 pounds. He has long black hair with tan on his paws and face. Dewey loves everybody, and everybody loves him. He barks at sounds but he never barks for long. We take him outside to potty, but he only pees outside. He poos and pees on his potty pads inside, potty training him has been hard I must say, but everything else about him is wonderful. He loves to cuddle, and play.
